Emma Finch-TurnerAdem / DilemmaDate Of Birth : 8/3/72 Discography : View all tracks
Emma is a talented singer / songwriter with a wide vocal range. Her classically trained voice and intelligent lyrical ability, coupled with the musicianship and expertise of her production team (Dave Coker of Wubble-U and Dave Jay) collectively known as Dilemma, is a definite recipe for success.
Emma has been recording and performing backing vocals with numerous bands in and around London since 1993, playing venues such as Ronnie Scotts and Spitzos as well as the obligatory pub circuit. Her musical tastes range from Classical to World Music, House and Tekno, resulting in varied styles such as Soul, Jazz, Blues and Rock. She is a regular clubber and takes influences from the Rave scene. Her favourite artists are Kate Bush, Mick Karn, Joni Mitchell and her brother Richard Finch-Turner. Joining Stage One in 1996 resulted in her first release "Polished Jewels", a lazy summertime tune with a soft sexy vocal over a blend of fretlesss bass (courtesy of her brother Richard) blended with a 70's synth. "Spring Box" is chill-out Club classic and shows the influence she takes from world music. She veers away from the conventional sound, using percussion as a building block with Mick Karn's bass style and Eastern musical phrases to evoke a mysterious and slightly sinister mood. Other tracks include "Crazy Daze", "Saviour" and "Windows Of My Mind". Emma says "My goal is to make a more intelligent style of music for the commercial market. I see myself as more of a writer than a singer. I try to give each tune an atmosphere of its own, using fresh new ideas and keeping standards high". U2 - I Still Haven't Found |
