The inception of Just Another Label hailed the beginnings of a massive rift in the UK’s dance music scene. Jungle was becoming darker and moodier with each release and so was the scene itself, so JAL, alongside labels such as Knite Force decided it was important to keep the happy vibe, whilst staying true to the breakbeat and jungle flavours.

The result was a combination of jungle, hardcore and old skool breaks which became known to many as old skool happy hardcore.

‘Take Me To The Top’ was the perfect track to set the tone for this young upstart of a label; with its crunchy breakbeats, high-speed yet melodic piano interludes and cutting vocals building up to an astonishing break, JAL 01 is as happy as it is hardcore!

The crescendo of the tracks falls into a dirty jungle break, in an attempt to show the other side of the scene that the hardcore kids could kick it better than they can and keep it happy all at the same time!

On the Flip is Just A Melody, jammed packed full of jungle vibed beats, pitched-up vocals and a filthy, rolling bass. JAL 01’s AA side is a hard and happy onslaught from start to finish!
