Class A Cuts (Narcotix Lounge) Vol. 2

Album Information

Class A Cuts (Narcotix Lounge) Vol. 2

Release Date : Jul 2001

Catalogue Number : NARCCD02

Label : up2 Narcotix Inc

“Class A Cuts (Narcotix Lounge)” marks the first CD compilation from the Narcotix Lounge stable and features a selection of more downbeat, "trippy" tracks more suited to a Sunday after party than a banging Friday night out.

This collection features smooth, chilled mixes that are easy to listen to and ethereal in their very nature. It is a down-tempo blend of live instruments and hallucinogenic melodies with haunting vocals.

Featured on this album you will discover the likes of Matt Quinn (better known as Optical). Under the name of Photofit he came out of the blue to produce the pleasant, light-hearted but still punchy track entitled "Flying Squad", which is a far cry from what you'd normally expect from him.

Matthew Carlton could be said to be one of the most undiscovered, innovative and open-minded dance / electronica producers around at the moment. In the past he has produced with the likes of Billy Bunter, Sharkey, Jimmy J, Amen UK and Mr Lee, producing anything from cheesy, banging happy hardcore as Triple J, to the trippy, meaningful sounds of "Saturated" as Fire & Theft.

The legendary Austin Reynolds, the producer behind the success of the Suburban Base heyday back in 1991-1994 (remember Sesame's Treat by the Smart-Es?), has teamed up with Jan Salisbury and formed Cool Blu. Together they have produced "Aqua Libra", an easy listening jazzy number, which has proven to be a real classic. He has recently been drafted in by the label Freska Nova to produce their artist Soul Hooligan's forthcoming album, which is destined for big things.

Other producers are also featured on the album, notably Jason Cambridge aka A-Sides and Sci-Clone, Jason Greenhalgh and Paul Smith aka Total Science, and Geoff Woolley and Mick Feltham aka K-Vision and K-Scope. Combined with the talents of singer/song writers Jennifer Bolton, Emma Finch-Turner aka Dilemma, Becky Carlton aka Fire & Theft, Dave J aka The Mighty Alliance and a host of other musicians, they form the Narcotix collective.

We have carefully chosen what we consider to be the cream of the label's history, not selecting tracks for their sales figures but for their art and expression to form a completely fresh and innocent vibe throughout the album. There will be moments when you will feel spiritually high and others deep in thought as the comedown hits you. So relax, take it easy and enjoy the emotional journey through the treasures of Narcotix Lounge.
